Panto 2015: FAQs
FAQs
WHERE?
All rehearsals and the production are at Crowborough Community Centre.
DAYS & TIMES?
Sunday afternoons *except* production dates (see Schedule Summary).
AGES?
School age to 18.
ARE THERE DIFFERENT SESSIONS FOR DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS?
As we are rehearsing for panto, we will probably mix the age groups, depending on the children and young people who want to be involved.
WHY ARE SOME OF THE TIMES TBC?
From the 1st November onwards, we will rehearse based on what we need to do, and how the panto Director runs the panto rehearsals.
CAN I JOIN PART-WAY THROUGH THE REHEARSAL SCHEDULE?
If we weren't already full, yes! However, we are bursting at the seams and can't take any more for this term. We wish we could. :-(
CAN I TRY IT OUT FOR FREE?
Come to the initial workshops. If you miss those, join a session as soon as you can, but before October 4th.
CAN I LEAVE IF I DON’T LIKE IT?
Of course, but give it a good go. Theatre, by its nature, puts everyone outside their comfort zone, but the rewards for sticking with it are huge. Because we are putting on a show, we ask that after the 4th October, no-one drops out without a really good reason because after that date, you are part of a team and everyone will be relying on you to do your bit!
HOW MUCH IS IT?
£45 for the full two terms, from Sept 13th up to Nov 15th.
(Although form the 22nd Nov onwards, we officially hand over the Youth Cast to the Crow Players, we will continue to look after the Youth Cast throughout the Run-through, Tech, Dress Rehearsals and Production but we will need some help - see the note about chaperones.)
ANY OTHER COSTS?
£10 annual Crowborough Players Membership for over 7s. (Runs until 31st May 2016.)
You my need to beg, borrow or buy some costume elements but we all tend to pull together to help each other.
There is no additional performance fee for the WyW Youth Cast.
DO I HAVE TO COME TO EVERY SESSION?
No! Especially not in September. After 4th October, it will become more important to attend regularly. Then in November and December, the commitment increases as you are part of a team.
Of course, everyone has activities outside the panto, and sometimes you just can’t come, but as long as you let us know, we can work round you. Being in a show requires commitment. You are part of a team who needs you so being there for the team, even when you really don’t want to be there, is part of the experience! If you are worried about the level commitment, we can make sure you have a small role so it doesn’t matter if you have to miss sessions or some of the productions. Just let us know.
Because there is a dedicated Youth Cast team, we can afford to be more laid back about Youth Cast attendance than the adult cast, as we can manage the Youth Cast scenes more closely. This doesn't mean you can skip all rehearsals and turn up on production night expecting to be the star though! :-)
DO I HAVE TO BE IN THE PANTO TO JOIN IN THIS AUTUMN?
No. We’ll be doing plenty of theatre activities you can join in with, however, if you are coming to rehearsals, it is a shame not to join in. If you are worried about the level commitment, we can make sure you have a small role so it doesn’t matter if you have to miss sessions or can’t make every production. Just let us know.
DID YOU SAY CHAPERONES?
Yes! We’d love your help! We need some responsible adult volunteers for the Sunday Dress (Sunday Dec 6th, afternoon), and Performances (evening and matinees Dec 11th, 12th, 13th). You will get a ticket to one of the productions as a “thank you”. As it is not a professional show, and runs every year, we don’t all need chaperone licenses, just a responsible approach. The Crow Players Child Protection Officer likes to see DBS certificates, so if you have one, please let us know. Nick, Ade, Susanna and Laura all have DBS certificates, as does Nicki, the Crow Players Child Protection Officer and we will be there too.
DO THE CHILDREN HAVE DEDICATED CHANGING AREAS?
Yes. There are always separate under 18 male and female changing areas. There are also male and female cast loos, so if anyone wishes to change in there, they may.
MY CHILD IS VERY YOUNG AND MIGHT FIND ALL THE PRODUCTIONS AND REHEARSALS TIRING
We can make sure they have a small role or share a role so they don’t have to be at every rehearsal and every show. Just let us know.
CAN I GET MY MONEY BACK IF I LEAVE?
Up ‘til the 4th October, yes, we’ll refund unused session at £5 a session. After that, you are committed. (We can’t refund payment for missed sessions or the Crowborough Players Membership.)
